Scholarship Description: A three year top-up scholarship (10,000 PA) is available for a suitably qualified candidate. The candidate would be expected to either have, or be in the process of applying for, a primary scholarship (eg APA or equivalent) for a PhD. We are looking for a new PhD student who has a passion for respiratory research to join our team to investigate the pathophysiology of respiratory diseases. We are investigating a number of exciting areas in respiratory medicine, and your PhD project will be based around our key research areas (eg respiratory virology, understanding the molecular changes which occur in lung cells from people with respiratory diseases, and understanding why therapeutics do not always work). You will use the latest cutting edge biological techniques in addition to our standard techniques (real time PCR, microarrays and Westerns). Research arising from this project is expected to be presented in leading international journals and scientific meetings. You should have a revelevent scientific degree (with Hons I or masters equivalent), want to develop your scientific career, and be a team player.
